TotalEnergies has signed a 10-year agreement to supply renewable electricity to Data4’s data centers in Spain, starting in January 2026. The contract covers a total volume of 610 GWh and will use wind and solar power generated by Spanish farms with an equivalent capacity of 30 MW.

The deal is part of TotalEnergies’ ongoing strategy to provide stable renewable energy, known as Clean Firm Power, to industrial customers worldwide. Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President Flexible Power & Integration at TotalEnergies, said: “We are delighted with this agreement with Data4, which illustrates our ability to offer competitive and tailored electricity supply solutions to large industrial groups. Our ‘Clean Firm Power’ solutions are specifically designed to meet our clients’ requirements in terms of cost, consumption profile, and environmental commitment. These solutions are based on our integrated power portfolio, combining both renewable and flexible assets, and contribute to achieving our target of 12% profitability in the power sector”.

Data4 operates data center campuses across six European countries and plans nearly €2 billion investment by 2030 for its Spanish operations. François Sterin, Chief Operation Officer at Data4 stated: “This agreement reaffirms Data4’s commitment to renewable energy which is more crucial than ever as the race for AI accelerates and the energy capacity required for all data centers in Spain is expected to more than triple by 2030. By partnering with TotalEnergies, we provide our customers a stable and competitive long-term supply of carbon-free electricity, in infrastructures designed to be models of sustainability and innovation. In this context, securing this type of contract for Data4 is strategic to meet the growing demand and position Madrid as one of Europe’s most attractive digital hubs.”

According to industry forecasts cited by Data4’s COO François Sterin, the energy demand from data centers in Spain could more than triple by 2030 due largely to advances such as artificial intelligence.

The partnership builds on similar contracts between TotalEnergies and other industrial customers globally. As of October 2025, TotalEnergies had over 32 GW of installed gross renewable electricity generation capacity and aims for 35 GW by year-end; it also targets more than 100 TWh net electricity production annually by 2030.

Both companies emphasize their focus on sustainability. Data4 implements its “Data4 Good” program focused on environment, people, community, and governance while providing scalable hosting solutions throughout Europe.
