TotalEnergies awarded new Nzombo exploration permit offshore Republic of the Congo

TotalEnergies, along with its partners QatarEnergy and the national company SNPC, has secured the Nzombo exploration permit in the Republic of the Congo. The consortium will operate under a partnership split of 50% for TotalEnergies, 35% for QatarEnergy, and 15% for SNPC.

The Nzombo permit covers an area of 1,000 square kilometers and is located about 100 kilometers off the coast of Pointe-Noire. It is situated near existing Moho production facilities managed by TotalEnergies EP Congo. As part of the work program, one exploration well is planned to be drilled before the end of 2025.

Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice-President Exploration at TotalEnergies, stated: “This award of a promising Exploration permit, with the material Nzombo prospect, reflects our continued strategy of expanding our Exploration portfolio with high impact prospects, which can be developed leveraging our existing facilities, and confirms our longstanding partnership with the Republic of the Congo.”

TotalEnergies operates in approximately 120 countries and focuses on producing and marketing various forms of energy including oil, biofuels, natural gas, biogas, low-carbon hydrogen, renewables and electricity. The company emphasizes sustainability in its projects and operations.
