Siemens Smart Infrastructure has installed smart building technology at the ‘House Potsdamer Strasse’ of the Berlin State Library in Germany. The company continues to provide services aimed at improving sustainability and energy efficiency at the site.

Since 2007, Siemens has worked with seven of Berlin’s cultural institutions on similar projects. These efforts have resulted in nearly €25 million in gross energy savings and an annual reduction of about 3,745 tons of CO₂ emissions. With the recent implementation at the Berlin State Library—now the eighth facility involved—the total collaboration has reached approximately €45 million in gross energy savings and a yearly elimination of around 11,745 tons of CO₂ emissions. Siemens continues to provide ongoing energy monitoring and data-based advisory services for all eight buildings.
The digital building platform used is Building X. This platform helps customers digitalize, manage, and optimize their building operations. Building X is part of Siemens Xcelerator, which supports customers in accelerating their digital transformation.
