Siemens and Snowflake have announced a collaboration aimed at bridging the gap between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) for industrial customers. By integrating Siemens Industrial Edge with Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud, manufacturers are able to use plug-and-play applications that help contextualize and transfer OT data into IT systems.

FFT, a global provider of manufacturing systems, is using this combined solution in its own production lines. The company utilizes the Siemens Industrial Edge ecosystem along with its DataBridge app to securely and efficiently move production data into the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. FFT’s implementation demonstrates the system’s ability to support high standards of efficiency and optimization through data-driven processes.

The partnership highlights FFT’s role as both an integrator and a trusted partner of Snowflake for automated production systems across mobility and industrial sectors. FFT is also recognized as a Siemens Xcelerator partner.

The joint offering targets production managers, data engineers, and IT leaders by addressing issues such as isolated data sources, lack of transparency, and inefficient analytics. Siemens Industrial Edge allows integration from various sources including PLCs, sensors, and other manufacturing equipment. It preprocesses data at the edge while running transformed OT data models—such as those powered by artificial intelligence—in coordination with automation systems. Snowflake’s platform provides insights through AI-powered analytics.

According to Siemens, “This joint solution – designed for production managers, data engineers, and IT leaders – tackles common challenges such as data silos, limited transparency, and inefficient analytics. Siemens Industrial Edge enables seamless integration of OT data by connecting to a wide range of sources, including PLCs, sensors, and other manufacturing systems. It also pre-processes data at the edge and runs transformed OT data models, like AI models, in closed-loop with production automation. Snowflake’s platform then delivers actionable insights through AI-powered analytics and agentic AI capabilities. The result is a measurable boost in operational efficiency, with higher machine performance, enhanced product quality, and reduced maintenance needs.”

The solution is intended to provide manufacturers with improved machine performance and product quality while reducing maintenance requirements.
