Siemens has announced the introduction of Circular Repair Services, a new offering aimed at supporting companies as they transition to a circular economy. The services are designed to extend the useful life of Siemens devices by providing various levels of repair and refurbishment for automation products and industrial drives.

“With CircularRepair Services, companies can choose the extent to which they want to restore the performance and appearance of their Siemens devices to high-quality,” stated Marc Konrad, Head of Global Customer Services for Motion Control. “This comprehensive offering helps our customers extend the useful life of products, use resources more effectively, achieve reliable efficiency and is therefore the direct answer to the market requests we have received.”

Circular Repair Advanced allows companies to have their products restored to full performance through a refurbishment process. This service covers several Siemens automation product families, including selected Simatic HMI Panels, Simatic IPCs, and industrial drives such as certain Sinumerik, Sinamics S, and Simodrive models. Siemens service experts identify faults or wear in devices by examining relevant components. Non-functioning or heavily worn parts are replaced while minor cosmetic issues that do not affect function remain unchanged. Software and firmware updates are applied if required by current safety or industry standards without altering the original purpose or functions. Each repaired device undergoes detailed testing according to Siemens’ quality standards.

The Circular Repair Premium service provides an even more thorough remanufacturing process with a 24-month warranty on the entire device. It includes complete disassembly and inspection using artificial intelligence tools to determine root causes of malfunction. Damaged housings and non-functioning components are systematically replaced; even still-functional parts expected to fail soon are swapped out with factory-tested originals. Devices receive software and firmware updates as well as hardware renewals where necessary so that their technical characteristics match those of new products. After reassembly, these devices go through extensive quality testing before being returned to customers.

According to Siemens AG, companies benefit from these services through longer product lifetimes, improved plant availability via its global network of repair centers, and high-quality repairs conducted by the original manufacturer—all factors that help businesses shift away from linear production models toward circular practices.

Initially, Circular Repair Services will be available in selected countries for specific products with plans for further expansion in both product range and geographic coverage.
