Siemens is set to establish a data center hub in Madrid, aiming to support the growing demand for digital infrastructure in the region. This initiative aligns with the International Energy Agency’s projection that global data center energy consumption will increase from 415 TWh in 2024 to over 945 TWh by 2030. Siemens’ new Iberian hub intends to address this surge with innovative solutions focused on efficiency and resource optimization.
The expansion into Madrid follows Siemens’ successful launch of its Nordic data center hub, reinforcing its commitment to aiding Iberia’s ambition of becoming a prominent digital hub in southern Europe. The development is expected to boost regional economic growth, generate skilled employment opportunities, and contribute to digital infrastructure advancement consistent with the European Green Deal objectives.
“The inauguration of this hub underlines the importance of the data center market for Siemens, both globally and specifically for Iberia,” stated Fernando Silva, CEO of Siemens Spain. “With this new infrastructure, we will multiply our network of technical experts supporting our customers in their requirement for sustainability, efficiency, and operational reliability of their data centers.”
The expert team based in Madrid will offer extensive support across various domains including power solutions, infrastructure management, automation, digital twins, thermal optimization, fire safety, physical security, microgrids as well as lifecycle and financial services. By leveraging an end-to-end portfolio and collaborating with a robust ecosystem of partners, Siemens aims to enhance its capacity to innovate and provide comprehensive lifecycle support for planning, building, operating, and scaling data centers effectively.
