Siemens has completed the acquisition of ebm-papst’s industrial drive technology business, enhancing its Simotics E portfolio. The expanded range now includes the Simotics E-1EE1 and Simotics E-1EV1 variants, designed for battery-powered systems and intralogistics applications respectively. These motors are available in 24 V and 48 V versions and come with transmission solutions exclusive to Simotics E motors.

A key innovation is the Simotics E ArgoDrive driver steering system, developed for intralogistics and automated production. It offers omnidirectional control for automated guided vehicles in Light, Standard, and Heavy variants. Siemens states that these systems align with their sustainability goals by providing energy-efficient solutions that contribute to flexible digital factories.

The integration includes three locations: two in Germany (St. Georgen and Lauf an der Pegnitz) and one in Romania (Oradea). This acquisition follows ebm-papst Group’s announcement in March 2024 about selling its Industrial Drive Technology division to Siemens AG. The completion of this sale allows IDT access to international markets through Siemens’ global sales network, opening new avenues for innovation and growth. All employees from the division have been retained by Siemens, although financial details remain undisclosed.
