SAP SE and Syngenta have announced a multiyear strategic technology partnership to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) across Syngenta’s global operations. The collaboration aims to integrate AI into Syngenta’s enterprise systems, modernizing its processes and enabling advanced data analytics in areas such as manufacturing, supply chain, and grower-facing services.

The agricultural sector is currently facing challenges related to climate variability, complex supply chains, and global uncertainty. With this partnership, Syngenta plans to implement AI tools throughout its business. The companies state that this initiative will help address the need to feed an estimated 10 billion people by 2050 by improving innovation speed, operational resilience, and scalability.

Feroz Sheikh, chief information and digital officer at Syngenta Group, said: “AI is the catalyst for agricultural transformation and has quickly become a core competitive edge for Syngenta. Our partnership with SAP is transforming how we run the enterprise, modernizing core operations and unlocking new ways to work — a testament to our commitment to becoming an agriculture company with AI at its core.”

Philipp Herzig, chief technology officer at SAP SE, added: “Syngenta’s transformation sets a benchmark for digital innovation in agriculture. Together, we’re demonstrating how cloud and AI technologies can drive sustainable growth and efficiency in one of the world’s most critical industries. This partnership will help Syngenta future-proof its operations to feed the world responsibly.”

Syngenta’s adoption of an AI-first operating model will start with SAP Cloud ERP Private solutions. This step is intended to update key functions across its value chain for greater agility and resilience. Through SAP Business Data Cloud solution integration, Syngenta aims to establish a unified data foundation that supports real-time decision-making and further AI deployment. Tools such as SAP Business AI and Joule copilot are expected to facilitate smarter decisions while maintaining privacy over proprietary grower information.
