Santander has been recognized as the highest ranked European bank on Fortune magazine’s 2026 World’s Most Admired Companies list. The annual ranking, produced by Fortune in collaboration with consultancy firm Korn Ferry, is based on a survey of 3,000 executives, directors, and analysts who assess major corporate enterprises worldwide.

The list highlights companies that are most respected across various industries. Santander was noted for its innovation, quality of management, and social responsibility within the “Megabanks” category. The bank also received recognition for its financial stability, global competitiveness, effective use of assets, people management practices, and value as a long-term investment.

Santander serves 178 million customers globally through five core business areas: Retail & Commercial Banking, Digital Consumer Bank, Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB), Wealth Management & Insurance, and Payments (PagoNxt and Cards). This structure enables the bank to combine global reach with local expertise.

According to Fortune’s methodology for compiling the list, participants rate top companies in their industry on nine criteria including investment value, management quality and products, social responsibility, and ability to attract talent. In 2026’s edition there are 685 companies spanning more than 51 industries.

Santander Group operates as part of a global banking network focused on supporting individuals and businesses through diversified financial services such as auto finance and wealth management. The organization maintains leadership in lending areas while providing private banking and investment advice nationwide.
