S&P Global Ratings has revised its outlook for Intesa Sanpaolo, changing it from stable to positive while affirming the bank’s ‘BBB+’ long-term senior preferred (unsecured) rating and maintaining the ‘A-2’ short-term rating. The announcement was made by Intesa Sanpaolo on February 2, 2026.

According to the statement, “S&P Global Ratings has affirmed the Bank’s ‘BBB+’ long-term senior preferred (unsecured) rating and has revised its outlook to positive from stable. The ‘A-2’ short-term rating has been affirmed.”

The revision in outlook follows a similar action taken by S&P Global Ratings regarding Italy on January 30, 2026. This indicates that changes in Italy’s sovereign credit profile have influenced the assessment of Intesa Sanpaolo’s ratings as well.
