Prosus has released a new research report in partnership with Dealroom.co, focusing on the integration of autonomous AI agents in the workplace. The report, titled ‘The Rise of the Agentic Workforce: How Autonomous AI Agents Will Transform the Workplace’, explores how these AI systems are changing work environments by taking on tasks traditionally performed by humans.

Agentic AI refers to autonomous systems capable of making independent decisions, learning and adapting, and managing complete tasks. This development is described as the third wave of AI technology, following predictive and generative AI.

Fabricio Bloisi, CEO of Prosus, commented on this shift: “The rise of agentic AI represents a foundational change in how we’ll work with AI technology in the coming years. We are past the tipping point of AI agent adoption and it is now firmly rooted in the workplace. Agentic AI companies are attracting billions of dollars of Venture Capital investment. At Prosus, we plan to hire the largest AI workforce in the industry this year, with AI agents working across our organisation from HR to customer support.”

The report maps over 1,500 AI agents and categorizes them by application sectors and platforms used for building or enhancing their operations. Coding agents have been identified as among the first to achieve product-market fit, with some companies like Cursor experiencing rapid growth.

Venture capital investment in agentic AI is increasing quickly. In 2025, funding for this sector is expected to account for 10% of all rounds related to artificial intelligence, reaching approximately $6.7 billion. European firms are securing a significant share of this funding compared to other regions. Customer service and healthcare platforms have attracted most investments within application areas, while robotic process automation (RPA) tools and builders for creating AI agents have outperformed other categories within enablers.

The report also suggests that organizations will move toward structures where teams include both human employees and digital colleagues powered by multiple agentic AIs. As these systems take over routine work, human workers will need to develop new skills focused on strategic thinking and creative problem-solving.

Dealroom.co provides data tracking and analysis for startups and venture capital activity across Europe and globally. The platform works with government agencies, investors, corporations, and media organizations from its base in Amsterdam.
