Philippine Airlines has received its first Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, becoming the tenth airline globally to operate this model. The delivery took place in Toulouse, France.
The new aircraft is configured with 382 seats across three classes and is intended to enhance Philippine Airlines’ long-haul services across the Pacific. The efficiency of the A350-1000 will allow the airline to expand its transpacific network, including non-stop flights to key destinations in North America.
This aircraft is the first of nine A350-1000s scheduled for delivery as part of Philippine Airlines’ fleet expansion plan. These new planes will complement the carrier’s existing A350-900s, which are already operating on routes to the United States. With this addition, Philippine Airlines aims to increase its long-haul capacity and improve both passenger experience and operational reliability.
According to Airbus, “The A350 is the world’s most modern widebody aircraft and has set new standards for intercontinental travel. The A350’s all-new design incorporates state-of-the-art technologies and aerodynamics, delivering unmatched operational efficiency and passenger comfort. Its new generation engines and use of lightweight materials bring a 25 per cent advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft. The A350 also features a comfortable and spacious Airspace cabin, with wide seats, high ceilings and ambient lighting designed to create a relaxing travelling atmosphere.”
Airbus also stated that “As with all Airbus aircraft, the A350 aircraft is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus is targeting to have its aircraft up to 100% SAF capable by 2030.”
By November 2025, nearly 1,500 orders had been placed for A350 Family aircraft by 66 customers worldwide.
