Mahesh Aditya has been appointed as the new CEO of Santander UK, effective March 1, 2026. He will take over from Mike Regnier, who announced his decision to step down in October 2025.
Aditya joined Santander in 2017 and has held various senior positions within the group. His roles have included group chief risk officer (CRO), CEO of Santander Consumer USA, and a recent position on the Santander UK board. In his upcoming role as CEO of Santander UK, Aditya will be responsible for overseeing the integration of TSB following its acquisition, which was announced in July 2025.
Santander also revealed that Pedro Castro e Almeida will succeed Aditya as group chief risk officer. Castro has been with Santander since 1993 and most recently served as CEO of Santander Portugal since 2019. During his tenure in Portugal, he led efforts that made the bank one of the most efficient and profitable in the country. He also acted as regional head for Europe between 2023 and 2025.
In Portugal, Isabel Guerreiro will take over as CEO from Pedro Castro. Guerreiro is an engineer who has led digital initiatives across the group and held senior leadership positions, including executive board member at Santander Portugal and group head of Digital for Europe.
