Last weekend, the Hack4Vilnius 2025 city innovation hackathon was held at VILNIUS TECH LinkMenų Fabrikas. The event gathered more than a hundred participants, including creators, students, and technology enthusiasts. Ignitis Group was one of the main organisers of this year’s hackathon and encouraged teams to develop solutions focused on smarter, more sustainable, and data-driven improvements for Vilnius.

Ignitis Group played a significant role by preparing 14 out of the 16 challenges presented during the hackathon. These challenges centered on enhancing the energy ecosystem, utilizing data applications, promoting sustainable mobility, and engaging citizens in the green energy transition. Specific questions included how to help residents better manage their electricity consumption, making smart meter data more beneficial for city planning, expanding the electric vehicle charging network efficiently, and explaining components of electricity pricing.

All three winning teams addressed challenges proposed by Ignitis Group. The first-place team, ecoBuddy, developed an AI-based mobile app that assists residents in sorting waste correctly and finding nearby recycling points. The second-place winners, Spindesio ūkininkai, created a solution for planning Vilnius’ EV charging network using movement patterns and charging behavior analysis. The third-place team, The Builders, introduced an AI-powered career assistant designed to match individuals with suitable jobs and organisations based on values and culture.

The jury for Hack4Vilnius included Lina Adomonienė from Ignitis Group as Head of IT Development. She evaluated final solutions along with other experts. Nine mentors from Ignitis Group also provided guidance throughout the event by sharing their expertise in technology and innovation.

Lina Adomonienė commented: “Hack4Vilnius is a great example of how collaboration across different fields can generate ideas that have a real impact on the city and its people. It’s inspiring to see so many young creators focusing on energy, data, and sustainability – it shows that our future is creative, curious, and unafraid to explore new paths.”

This year’s hackathon featured 110 participants forming 35 teams. Other main organisers were VILNIUS TECH and Saulėtekis Tech Park.
