SAP SE has announced that Heineken, a leading global brewer, has implemented an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot named “Hoppy” to enhance its business processes and provide real-time data access. This initiative is part of Heineken’s efforts to streamline internal operations across its extensive network of over 165 breweries in more than 70 countries.

Hoppy operates on the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), utilizing advanced natural language processing to simplify data access for business users. The AI-driven chatbot reduces the need for manual data searches, allowing employees to concentrate on strategic tasks. With the integration of SAP Datasphere, Heineken benefits from a unified data model that enhances scalability and access.

Andre van Schuijlenburg, director of global process management at Heineken, remarked on the challenges and potential of integrating AI agents: “Building and integrating agents is not always an easy journey. There is still a lot to be discovered. But as we say in the team: ‘Don’t worry, be Hoppy!’”

The introduction of Hoppy within platforms like Microsoft Teams has significantly reduced the time required for knowledge workers to retrieve information—from 15 minutes down to one minute. Additionally, with SAP Business AI capabilities at its core, Hoppy aids in automating repetitive tasks and improving decision-making processes by providing a comprehensive view of data.

Manos Raptopoulos, chief revenue officer for APAC, EMEA and MEE at SAP, commented on Heineken’s innovative use of technology: “Heineken’s decision to leverage SAP Business AI for its internal chatbot exemplifies an innovative approach to reimagining operational efficiency and employee empowerment.”
