Ignitis Renewables has announced the appointment of Frank Oomen as its new Chief Executive Officer. Oomen, who brings extensive experience from leading international renewable energy companies, will officially begin his five-year term on September 1, 2025. He takes over from Gary Bills, who served as interim CEO since March 31, 2025.

Darius Maikštėnas, CEO of Ignitis Group, expressed enthusiasm about the new leadership: “We are delighted to welcome our new CEO of Ignitis Renewables, whose leadership and vision will be instrumental in leading the green generation breakthrough in the Baltics and Poland. Together, we will continue to innovate and expand our renewable energy footprint to create a 100% green and secure energy ecosystem for current and future generations.”

Frank Oomen shared his commitment to advancing sustainable energy initiatives: “I am honoured to be appointed as the new CEO of Ignitis Renewables. Together with my new colleagues, I am committed to shaping the future of sustainable energy. We will continue to develop impactful projects and strengthen our organisation, driving progress towards a more climate-resilient and energy-independent future.”

Oomen’s background includes over 15 years in leadership roles at various energy firms such as BP, GroenLeven, Eneco Wind & Solar, and SSE Renewables. His expertise spans business development and strategy execution across large-scale renewable projects involving wind (both offshore and onshore), solar power, battery storage solutions, and power-to-X technologies.

The selection process for this role involved an international recruitment agency specializing in renewables. A total of 136 candidates were considered before Oomen was chosen for his strong qualifications.
