Volkswagen Group Charging GmbH, known as Elli, is expanding its charging network across Europe. The company now offers e-mobility customers access to approximately 900,000 public charging points in 28 European countries through the Elli app, Elli Charging Card, or Charge&Fuel Card. This includes 80,000 high-power charging stations. The expansion coincides with a new pricing model aimed at making electric vehicle charging more convenient and cost-effective.
Joschi Jennermann, CEO of the newly established Elli Mobility—a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group Charging—commented on the development: “Our Elli charging network is seamless and reliable – a key enabler of borderless electric mobility. With every new charging point, we bring e-mobility closer to people’s everyday lives.” He added that the new tariff model ensures transparent pricing and includes features like international roaming and Plug&Charge.
In conjunction with this expansion, Guinness World Record holder Rainer Zietlow is undertaking a journey around the world in an ID. Buzz Pro electric vehicle. His aim is to set a new record for “most countries visited in an electric vehicle,” traveling through over 75 countries across six continents within about one year. The European leg will cover Austria, Italy, France, Turkey, among others.
Zietlow remarked on the support from Elli’s network: “In 2020, we kicked off a record-breaking tour through Germany with the ID.3. Since then, Elli’s charging network has tripled in size – which means we can now confidently complete the European stretch of our global electric journey with Elli as our charging partner.”
The journey will be documented on https://idbuzz-worldtour.com and via Elli’s LinkedIn channel.
