At Digital X 2025 in Cologne, Deutsche Telekom introduced its new “T Mission” product portfolio, which is designed for authorities and organizations with security tasks. The company aims to strengthen its position in Mission Critical Services (MCx) by offering emergency services communication solutions based on 4G and 5G technology.

T Mission includes several solutions for emergency responders, such as network slicing for stable connections during high network congestion. The portfolio also features MCx services that allow the exchange of voice or video at the touch of a button, and an emergency app developed by Deutsche Telekom to improve operational coordination.

For the development and marketing of MCx, Deutsche Telekom has partnered with Motorola Solutions and TASSTA. Motorola Solutions provides safety-critical infrastructures globally and already works with T-Mobile US in the United States. TASSTA, a German-based provider founded in Hanover in 2013, offers communication solutions for emergency services. Its MCx solution was tested with the “Authorized Body for Digital Radio Lower Saxony” (ASDN).

The combined platforms from TASSTA and Motorola Solutions work together with Deutsche Telekom’s mobile network to provide a scalable and secure architecture. Emergency responders benefit from dedicated resources in the network and functionalities like push-to-talk, which allows immediate communication at the press of a button—important during critical situations.

Additional features include automatic call group formation based on application requirements without manual configuration. Teams can be assigned to groups automatically when certain conditions are met, such as entering specific zones or starting operations. Secure sharing of images and videos within teams is also possible through push-to-video and push-to-data functions. Artificial intelligence supports situational analysis and noise cancelling in loud environments.

Organizations using T Mission can maintain secure communications via their own core networks within Deutsche Telekom’s infrastructure. Data is processed separately on dedicated servers for added security. The core network is exclusively developed and operated by Deutsche Telekom for these organizations, utilizing LTE and 5G connections supported by guaranteed resources through network slicing.

Deutsche Telekom already provides this type of network slicing product today. Emergency responder networks benefit from regular updates within the wider Telekom infrastructure. By combining 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, and adding extra capacity during large events or disasters, T Mission remains scalable and adaptable.

Integration into existing systems is also being addressed; Deutsche Telekom is developing an Interworking Function (IWF) to link modern MCx services with established TETRA radio systems—a transition planned for release in the first half of 2026.

Gottfried Ludewig, responsible for Public Sector business at Deutsche Telekom, stated: “Our new product portfolio T Mission stands for a future-proof, flexible and high-performance solution for the challenges of mission-critical communication. We prioritize critical mission data with MCx technology. T Mission puts a ‘blue light’ on data that forces non-prioritized data to step aside so that, just like emergency vehicles, prioritized data moves efficiently through our network.

At the same time, we reserve capacity for emergency responders via network slicing. At Digital X, Deutsche Telekom will be showcasing a complete MCx solution from the control center to disaster recovery management for the first time – for faster information, better coordination and greater safety for our emergency responders.”

Independent tests have recognized Deutsche Telekom’s mobile network as Germany’s largest and best-performing provider in both LTE and 5G categories according to publications including Chip, Imtest, Smartphone Magazin, and Computer Bild in 2024 (https://www.chip.de/artikel/Handynetz-Test-2024-Welcher-Anbieter-hat-das-beste-Netz_184204968.html). With over 36,000 mobile sites across Germany supplying nearly full LTE coverage—and more than 98 percent coverage with 5G—the company enables download speeds up to one gigabit per second through more than 15,000 antennas installed nationwide (https://www.telekom.com/en/media/media-information/archive/network-expansion-telekom-passes-15-000-5g-antennas-mark-647464).

Deutsche Telekom invests several billion euros each year into building its networks.
