Deutsche Telekom has announced that its customers can now transfer their eSIM profiles between Android and iOS devices, making it the first network operator in Europe to offer this capability. The new feature allows users to move their eSIM profile without needing an additional app or paperwork.

“With the new eSIM transfer, we are making it easier than ever for our customers to switch devices. Simple, flexible, and secure—that is our goal,” said Michael Hagspihl, Vice President Global Strategic Projects and Marketing Partnerships of Deutsche Telekom.

Previously, Deutsche Telekom only supported eSIM transfers between devices with the same operating system—between iOS devices since 2020 and Android devices since 2023. The latest update enables cross-platform transfers for the first time.

At launch, the service will support iPhones running iOS 26 and Google Pixel 10 devices. Additional Android models are expected to be added soon. The process begins directly in the settings of the new smartphone, where the operating system detects the previous device and initiates a secure transfer. Deutsche Telekom’s system then verifies eligibility before approving the move. Users keep their existing phone number and tariff after transferring.

The technology relies on the international GSMA standard TS.43 and an entitlement server developed by Deutsche Telekom. This server manages authorizations and ensures a secure process while allowing quick adaptation to new features or innovations. Since its introduction in 2017, this technology has been expanded across Deutsche Telekom’s European subsidiaries, with plans for further rollout.

“Anyone who changes their operating system wants to seamlessly transfer their connection. This is exactly what we are now enabling – quickly, securely and without additional effort,” Hagspihl added. “Our innovative system ensures that the switch works reliably and easily.”

An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into a device that uses an uploaded profile instead of a physical chip, simplifying switching between phones.
