Deutsche Telekom has launched its new AI-phone and AI-tablet, aiming to make artificial intelligence accessible to a wider audience. The devices are available starting today in Germany and nine other European countries: Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, and Slovakia. Prices start at 149 euros for the AI-phone and 199 euros for the AI-tablet in Germany. Customers who purchase the devices with a tariff pay only one euro each.
The new products come equipped with the Perplexity Assistant, an integrated AI companion designed to help users with daily tasks such as managing calendars, writing emails, translating languages, planning travel itineraries, providing nutrition advice, shopping recommendations, entertainment suggestions, and tutoring support. Users can interact with the assistant via voice or text by pressing a dedicated magenta button or double-clicking the power key.
Dominique Leroy, Board Member for Europe at Deutsche Telekom said: “Together with trusted partners, we’re bringing the AI-phone to people across Europe. It takes care of everyday tasks and quickly finds reliable information, saving you time and energy. So you can focus on what truly matters – where your ideas, creativity, and personal touch make the real difference.”
The price includes an 18-month subscription to Perplexity Pro in addition to permanent access to the Perplexity Assistant. Buyers also receive a three-month Picsart Pro license with additional credits for image editing features.
Both devices are part of Deutsche Telekom’s T Phone series—the T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2—and feature upgraded chipsets for faster performance and shorter charging times. The tablet offers screen technology from TCL NXTPAPER designed for reading or creative work; a stylus is sold separately. A “Pro” version of the phone is expected later this year.
Camera functions include modern AI tools through a partnership with Picsart that allow users to create avatars or edit backgrounds easily. Sustainability features have been highlighted: The T Phone 3 received a #GreenMagenta label and scored highly on Eco Rating assessments; the T Tablet 2 uses recycled plastic in its construction.
Customers who do not wish to buy new hardware can still access selected AI tools through Magenta AI within Deutsche Telekom’s MeinMagenta app.
Claudia Nemat, Board Member for Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom stated: “Artificial intelligence is the big technology of our time. It changes a lot. But there is still some reluctance. We believe AI offers significant opportunities. To use those, people need to take part and try out AI tools. ‘Our’ AI-phone and Magenta AI features in the app give our customers compact access to various AI services and allow them to explore this technology first-hand.”
Industry forecasts suggest strong growth in generative-AI capable smartphones over coming years. IDC projects shipments will reach 912 million units by 2028—an annual growth rate of nearly 78 percent—with these devices accounting for about 70 percent of all smartphone sales (source: IDC). Canalys attributes this trend to increasing consumer demand for advanced features alongside rapid improvements in chipset technologies (Canalys). According to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech research (Kantar Worldpanel ComTech), European consumers most desire real-time translation capabilities, camera enhancements like background editing or circle-to-search functionality—all available on Deutsche Telekom’s new device lineup.
The devices are now available online at telekom.de as well as through retail outlets under their respective names T Phone 3 and T Tablet 2.
