Deutsche Telekom has announced the launch of Magenta Security Mobile.ID, a new mobile security platform developed in partnership with Samsung. The product is designed to turn smartphones into tools for unlocking, locking, encrypting, verifying, and signing sensitive or valuable information.

The service will initially be available exclusively on Samsung devices and is expected to reach business customers in Europe starting summer 2026. The system stores digital identities such as keys, certificates, and ID cards on a secure chip within the smartphone. This Secure Element cannot be accessed externally.

“With Magenta Security Mobile.ID, we are doing even more justice to the concept of digital trust in Europe,” said Deutsche Telekom Chief Security Officer Thomas Tschersich. “It is 100 percent data-sovereign and plays to its strengths via Bluetooth or Near Field Communication almost indefinitely.”

A test phase involving Deutsche Telekom employees will begin this spring. Employees will use their smartphones instead of physical key cards for tasks such as opening security barriers or logging into laptops. A green tick next to incoming calls will indicate verified callers.

The company says that Magenta Security Mobile.ID can replace physical IDs, smart cards, and keys while reducing complexity and costs for businesses. Future features may include watermarking images or films created with supported smartphones to prevent misuse as reference material for deepfakes.

“Progress must make us safer as a society, be based on trust and thus generate real added value for our customers. This is what our networks, products and services stand for today and in the future,” said Abdu Mudesir, Member of the Executive Board Product & Technology.

While the initial rollout focuses on Samsung devices, Deutsche Telekom plans to expand compatibility to other platforms over time. The offering targets companies of all sizes due to its ease of implementation.

Magenta Security Mobile.ID will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona from March 2-5, 2026 at Deutsche Telekom’s booth 3M31 in Hall 3. Additional information about events and live streams can be found at mwc.telekom.com/2026.
