Deutsche Telekom has announced an expansion of its cybersecurity services for business customers, focusing on companies that lack dedicated IT departments or have limited technical expertise. The company’s Security OnNet Basic service, introduced in January, operates directly from Telekom’s mobile network and provides automatic protection against internet threats without requiring separate installation.
According to Thomas Tschersich, Chief Security Officer at Deutsche Telekom and CEO of Telekom Security, “We rely on protection directly from Telekom’s mobile network. Since the launch of Security OnNet Basic, we have protected thousands of business customers from Internet attacks. We will soon be adding another stage and expanding it to the fixed network.” Tschersich noted that phishing attempts, malware, and botnet attacks are among the hundreds of thousands of activities repelled by the service. He added, “Security OnNet Basic protected over 1 million times against fraudulent websites.”
The company plans to introduce a new level of security for its mobile network soon. While the current version protects primarily against external fraudulent attacks, upcoming features will focus on early detection of vulnerabilities within organizations. This next phase is intended to safeguard company data and enhance employee awareness about security issues.
Security OnNet Basic is integrated into existing Business Mobil tariffs at no additional cost and blocks access to fraudulent websites that seek sensitive information such as passwords or credit card details. It also prevents unauthorized internet access to mobile devices within Deutsche Telekom’s network by considering known malware signatures, phishing sites, and botnets.
At the end of the year, Deutsche Telekom aims to extend Security OnNet services to business customers using fixed networks.
Additionally, Deutsche Telekom highlighted its involvement in Digital X—a digitization initiative scheduled for September 10, 2025 in Cologne under the theme “Ready for AI?”. The event will feature industry partners and experts with a goal of supporting Europe’s digital agenda and competitiveness through collaborative action.
Galah and Beelzebub have been introduced as part of Deutsche Telekom’s digital honeypot family; these tools now leverage artificial intelligence for improved threat detection capabilities.
