SAP SE has announced that BASF, a leading chemical company, is undergoing a digital transformation with the adoption of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition. As a long-term customer of SAP, BASF aims to integrate this cloud solution into its existing systems to reduce the complexity associated with on-premises management.

BASF’s new hybrid system landscape will enable the integration of SAP S/4HANA Cloud while maintaining a clean core strategy. This approach ensures that any future customizations and extensions are cloud-ready, which simplifies system maintenance over time.

The transition to SAP S/4HANA Cloud allows BASF to take advantage of advancements in artificial intelligence and sustainability solutions. The initial implementation phase is complete with one system already operational. Once fully implemented across all systems, BASF expects to see enhanced operations through real-time data insights and improved decision-making capabilities. Additionally, the company will have increased flexibility to respond swiftly to market changes.

Thomas Saueressig from the Executive Board of SAP SE expressed pride in partnering with BASF for this transformation. “By choosing SAP S/4HANA Cloud, BASF is laying a strong foundation for future growth and innovation,” he said. “The ability to leverage a clean core and standardized processes will provide BASF with the agility and resilience needed to thrive in today’s dynamic business environment.”
