Airbus Flight Academy and Sevenair Academy have announced a new partnership to expand initial pilot training opportunities. The agreement was signed at the European Airline Training Symposium (EATS) in Portugal.

The collaboration comes as Airbus projects a global need for 633,000 new pilots over the next two decades, with Europe requiring about 119,000 of them. By joining forces with Sevenair Academy, one of Europe’s largest flight training organizations, Airbus aims to extend its ab initio training network and support the development of future aviation professionals.

Airbus currently operates 21 training locations worldwide that provide comprehensive flight training close to customers’ home bases. The addition of Sevenair Academy will increase Airbus’ presence in Portugal and offer a full program for aspiring pilots, taking them from no prior experience through all necessary phases to obtain their licenses.

Maïa Kuilenberg, Vice President of Training Services at Airbus, stated: “Leveraging Airbus’ decades of expertise in flight safety, instructor development, and curriculum standardisation, this partnership ensures the highest training quality. Sevenair Academy will benefit from Airbus’ ongoing support and innovations, enhancing instructors’ skills and broadening training opportunities for both airline partners and self-sponsored aspiring pilots.”

Carlos Amaro, CEO of Sevenair Academy, said: “This partnership with Airbus marks an important milestone for Sevenair Academy, reinforcing our commitment to world-class pilot training. By combining Airbus’ high standards with our four decades of experience in ab initio training and our state-of-the-art facilities and fleet in Ponte de Sor, Portugal, we are setting a new benchmark in aviation education and preparing cadets to excel in a dynamic global industry.”

Sevenair is currently training 200 cadets and plans to increase its capacity each year by offering modular and integrated pilot programs. This week also marks the start of Airbus training for a group of Royal Brunei Airlines cadets at Sevenair’s facility.
