Reports have emerged that the German government plans to resume flying thousands of Afghans into Germany. Alice Weidel, spokesperson for the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), criticized this move, stating: “Friedrich Merz promised citizens a ‘migration turnaround,’ but it is now clear that irresponsible mass immigration continues.”

Weidel expressed concerns about the lack of thorough checks on the identity and threat potential of Afghan nationals being brought into the country. She highlighted ongoing issues with knife violence and integration challenges faced by authorities. “The black-red coalition continues the fatal policy of open doors,” she said.

According to Weidel, the Merz government is yielding to questionable lower court administrative decisions. She argued that this approach contradicts bold deportation announcements while adding burdens to social welfare and internal security through charter and scheduled flights.

“The truth is: Merz’s ‘migration turnaround’ was nothing but a deception,” Weidel claimed. She warned that Germany remains a destination for new migrant flows as internal problems spiral out of control. The AfD, she asserted, advocates for a genuine policy shift involving strict border security, an end to intake programs, protection against social welfare abuse, and repatriation instead of failed long-term integration.
