Beer, one of the world’s oldest beverages, continues to hold a significant place in global culture and tradition. Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) has announced ongoing efforts to lead and grow the beer category through sustained investment in innovation.
According to AB InBev, teams across its international operations are utilizing brewing expertise, modern technology, and consumer insights to develop both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options while maintaining high standards for taste and quality. The company stated: “By investing in innovation that protects what people love about beer, AB InBev is helping create more choice, more occasions, and more ways to enjoy beer—building on centuries of tradition as we work toward a future with more cheers.”
A key part of these efforts is the Global Innovation & Technology Center (GITEC) located in Leuven, Belgium. At this facility, AB InBev’s teams are working on new fermentation methods and advanced brewing capabilities. The company highlighted that these initiatives have contributed to improved quality standards for no-alcohol beers—a development it says benefits the entire beer category.
In February 2026, National Geographic visited AB InBev’s labs to examine how innovation is influencing the future of beer. The resulting feature provides an independent perspective on how craftsmanship and large-scale production can support the evolution of the industry. “At AB InBev, we are committed to leading and growing the category. Sustained investment in innovation plays a central role in strengthening the beer category. Across our global footprint, teams are applying brewing expertise, modern technology, and consumer insight to create options with and without alcohol, while maintaining uncompromising standards of taste and quality,” said an AB InBev spokesperson.
“This work comes to life at our Global Innovation & Technology Center (GITEC) in Leuven, Belgium, where brewing heritage meets forward-looking innovation. By rethinking fermentation and advancing new brewing capabilities, our teams are raising quality standards in no-alcohol beer—progress that helps advance the entire beer category, not just a single segment,” added another representative from AB InBev.
The company continues its focus on expanding choices for consumers while honoring longstanding traditions within the industry.
