AB InBev has launched a global initiative to recognize the role of bars and pubs in communities worldwide. The company’s efforts include partnerships, events, and new projects aimed at supporting bar culture and highlighting its economic and social contributions.

According to AB InBev, bars and pubs are not only places for social gatherings but also play an important part in local economies. In 2024, 1.5 million bars generated $244.9 billion in revenue globally, with 88% of consumers acknowledging their economic significance.

To support these businesses, AB InBev has collaborated with organizations such as the World Economic Forum to explore ways businesses can work together to help the nighttime economy adapt and grow. The company also partnered with GUT on a film called ‘Cheers to Bars’, which celebrates memorable experiences at bars.

Throughout August, starting on International Beer Day, AB InBev celebrated bars in over 20 countries. Activities included the opening of Refugio Patagonia Puerto Madero by Quilmes in Argentina, an event by Backus in Peru honoring bar owners’ impact, tastings at Goose Island Brewpub in Shanghai and the Budweiser International Beer Festival in Putian, China.

In Belgium and Luxembourg, more than 2,000 bars participated in pouring competitions featuring Stella Artois. The top twelve competitors competed at The Perfect Serve Awards where the “Best Stella Artois Bar & Draught Master” for 2025 was selected.

In Brazil, industry leaders met for the release of the Beer Yearbook 2025 to discuss growth and investment related to beer’s impact on hospitality businesses. Brazilian consumers marked International Beer Day with special offers from Zé Delivery.

Bavaria in Colombia signed an agreement with CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean to promote financial inclusion and digitization among small businesses. This followed Bavaria’s expansion of its Emprendedores program that provides skills and resources to about 80,000 bar and retail owners.

Other activities included celebrating 130 years of supporting local businesses in South Africa and recognizing bar owners’ contributions through Grupo Modelo events in Oaxaca, Mexico.

“Ninety percent of Mexicans see bars as vital to their local economy,” said Grupo Modelo CEO Daniel Cocenzo. “By strengthening bars, we strengthen our country.”
